If we were to find intelligent life on another planet, do you think our encounter would be peaceful or violent?

I think the aliens would die laughing. That's sort of a peaceful encounter but the contortions and spasms would be pretty violent. I'd say it would go down in history as violent, wouldn't want to break a perfect record.
